Shabby Heirloom Bouquet and Boutonniere

Traditionally, the bride's bouquet is either thrown and caught by an eager lady hoping to be the next to wed, or it is dedicated to a loved-one who has passed.
Uhm...
I shall be doing neither!

My ex-boyfriend and I envisioned a non-traditional wedding. So on our big day, we broke the rules and put a twist on wedding traditions. One of these is the throwing of the bouquet. Instead of tossing it, I presented it to my Maid-of-Honour - my one and only sweet little sister who did an incredible job helping and supporting me on the preparations and who wholeheartedly put up with my tantrums and demands.

I personally have painstakingly handmade my bouquet with recycled and vintage materials. I have super crazy love for lacey, pre-loved, old and shabby things, so I am very proud to have had an eco-friendly wedding! (I love you, Mother Earth!) Thanks to Freecycle, I was able to get some scrap fabrics from dressmakers in my area. I made the flowers using those fabrics and embellished them with my favourite trinkets like vintage buttons, bottle caps (which my good friend gave me), and Scrabble tiles (that I nicked from my family's Scrabble set. Sorry, my dear cousins.. :( Lol). It was a long, hard and fiddly job to do, but I enjoyed it very much and really love the end result! So I am happy with my decision to have my sister keep it. Although I may want it back any day. Hahaha
For my favourite ex-boyfriend, the Scrabble King, I chose a  l-o-v-e  Scrabble boutonniere for the obvious reason that we both love Scrabble. It complemented the Scrabble tiles initials of my bouquet. Due to time constraints on my part, my ever-so-creative sister gladly made it for him. She's just amazing, isn't she? I reckon we got our creativity from our Mom.
